Our History
Various people have written historical accounts of St Andrew’s Church. A short booklet by R. S. Renton, published in 1948, is sadly out of print. A much more detailed history can be found in a work by Rev. E. N. T. Sandford, which underwent various revisions, including in 2000 after his death. The last of these is still available as a black-and-white only photocopy, but as electronic versions of this have been lost, it is not possible to reproduce it fully here.
In 2023, Pete Skett set about distilling the information contained in these two documents into a completely new and restyled booklet, St Andrew’s Church Clevedon: A Brief Tour. The 20-page high quality illustrated guide is available in the church for a suggested donation of £2. It covers the interior of the building only. Alternatively, you can explore the guide interactively here.
Further guides to the exterior and grounds and the church’s stained-glass windows are anticipated in the future.
