IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO:
~ grow more like Jesus
~ get to know a small group of people from the congregation better
~ explore passages from the Bible with them in a supportive setting
~ have quality time to pray together
~ enjoy social times, such as a summer barbeque or an outing
THEN JOINING A HOME GROUP COULD BE FOR YOU!
Sharing fellowship, encouraging one another, caring for each other, developing our faith, improving our knowledge and understanding of the Bible, growing in God`s love in an open and honest, friendly and informal, sensitive and supportive environment… All these aspects are at the heart of our Home Groups.
At present, we have a number of active Home Groups with membership ranging from half a dozen to a dozen people, meeting weekly on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, for about two hours, mostly in the evenings, and generally in the home of the Home Group leader. On the first Tuesday of the month we have the opportunity to forego our Home Group meeting and to join in corporate prayer in the Church.
CURRENT SERIES (from May 2019):
Our current study is Isaiah: TRUSTING GOD IN TROUBLED TIMES.
It is a Life Builder Study published by Inter-Varsity Press, written and revised in 2018
by Howard Peskett, formerly vice principal of Trinity College, Bristol
where he taught mission and religion.
The series has 22 studies so we aim to be flexible about how it is followed over the next few months. This time the sermons will not be linked to the series so Home Groups again have more freedom in their way of approaching the study.
Anyone not able or not wishing to commit to meeting regularly can be linked to a Home Group as an associate member and will be encouraged to keep in touch and to attend social events. The Home Groups have a pastoral responsibility in the Church and this key role is taken very seriously. As always, most groups have some room for new members while Trev is always happy to discuss with you the implications of joining a group and exploring your faith in a supportive atmosphere where it is not necessary to be a Bible scholar!
For more information please contact our vicar Trev Cranshaw, on 01275 871458 or the Home Group Coordinator: VACANCY. Either person can introduce you to a Home Group leader or find a member of a group to talk to you about why being in a group is important to them. Details of current studies are displayed on a noticeboard
in the Church Centre.
Please consider seriously whether this could be for you should you wish to encounter God and explore what a difference knowing Jesus makes to your life!
